오늘은 지난 12일에 있었던 국가직 9급 영어 어휘 관련 문제를 짚어볼까 하는데요.
난이도 수준을 살펴보고 앞으로의 공부 전략과 워드스펀지의
적중률도 알아보겠습니다


2008년 4월 12일 국가직 9급 영어 어휘관련 문제

1. 어휘 문제의 수준 및 앞으로의 전략

이번 영어 시험에서 어휘 문제는 지난 3~5년간의 문제들의 평균 난이도에 비하면 매우 쉽게 출제되었습니다.
국가직 9급 영어시험의 문법, 독해, 어휘문제를 종합하여볼 때 수능시험에 나오는 어휘 범위 내에 있는 어휘가 90% 이상 차지하고 있는데요. 나머지 10%내의 어려운 어휘들은 대부분 어휘문제에서 출제되어 왔고 올해에도 상대적으로 어휘문제의 어휘들이 독해나 문법에 나온 어휘들보다 수준이 더 높았습니다.
2004년~2006년 시험까지의 국가직(행자부) 9급 영어 어휘 시험에서는 토플 수준을 넘는 어려운 어휘들이 어김없이 포함되었지만 2007년 4월 국가직 시험에서부터 어휘 난이도는 토플 수준을 벗어나지 않는 수준으로 쉽게 출제되기 시작하여 올해에는 그 난이도가 더 낮아졌습니다.
2007년, 2008년 국가직 시험에서는 워드스펀지 이센셜코스1,2 범위 내에서 어휘가 출제되었고 어드밴스코스에서 출제된 단어는 없었습니다.
특히 올해 영어 어휘 문제에서는 수능 수준의 어휘 비중이 더 높아졌고 상대적으로 수능 수준을 넘는 토플 수준의 어휘는 그만큼 비중이 더 줄어들었습니다.
하지만 2007년 국회8급 시험이나 지방직 중에서 서울시, 경기도 9급 영어 시험에서의 어휘 난이도는 국가직 9급보다 높은 수준으로 출제되었고 지난 몇 년간의 기출어휘를 기준으로 생각해 본다면 앞으로 영어 어휘가 계속 쉽게 출제되리라는 보장을 하기에는 아직 이르다고 볼 수 있게습니다.

결론
수능 수준까지의 어휘는 어휘문제뿐만 아니라 독해 문법 문제에서 90% 이상을 차지하고 있기 때문에 수능단어를 확실하게 암기한 후에 토플 수준(워드스펀지의 이센셜코스1,2)까지 확실하게 어휘를 마스터하고 그 이상의 어휘(워드스펀지 어드밴스 코스)는 문법과 독해 그리고 숙어 회화문제 실력을  99% 맞을 수 있는 수준까지 올린 후에 상위 1%를 위해 공부를 하는 것이 가장 효과적인 방법이라고 볼 수 있습니다.
특히 수능 수준의 어휘만 확실히 알고 있어도 80~90점 이상 충분히 맞을 수 있다는 점을 감안하여 수능 수준까지의 기본 어휘를 확실히 다지고난 후 그 이상의 난이도를 갖고 있는 어휘들을 공부해야 함을 잊지 말아야 하겠습니다!
